🌐UMA RESOLUTION SYSTEM

How does it work?

At Nostradamus, some predictions depend on real-world events that need a trusted resolution. To achieve this, we use UMA’s Optimistic Oracle (OO).

Here’s how it works in simple terms:

  1. Prediction Ends

    • Once a prediction reaches its end date, the result must be confirmed.

    • Example: “Will Candidate X win the election?”

  2. Proposer Submits an Answer

    • Anyone can propose the outcome to UMA’s oracle.

    • They attach evidence, usually from reliable news sources (e.g., New York Times, Reuters, Associated Press).

  3. Dispute Window

    • Other participants can review this outcome.

    • If no one disputes it within a short time window (2h), the result is accepted.

    • If someone disputes, UMA token holders vote to decide the correct answer.

  4. Final Settlement

    • The accepted result is written on-chain.

    • Nostradamus then resolves the prediction based on this confirmed outcome.

Why this matters:

  • No single person controls the outcome.

  • Disputes ensure accuracy and protect against manipulation.

  • UMA guarantees a reliable connection between the blockchain and the real world.
