F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Nostradamus use USDC?

We use USDC because it’s a stablecoin. This means your trades and winnings are always worth exactly what you expect, no price swings, no surprises.

Can I withdraw anytime?

Yes. You can withdraw your USDC balance whenever you like. There are no lockups.

What happens if I lose a prediction?

If the side you bought (YES or NO) ends up being wrong, your shares are worth 0 USDC at settlement. The winning side receives 1 USDC per share.

How do prices work?

Prices are shown as probabilities (between 0 and 1 USDC).

  • If YES = 0.65 USDC, that means the market thinks there’s a 65% chance of YES.

  • The opposite side (NO) will always be the remainder (1 – 0.65 = 0.35 USDC).

Can I sell my shares before the market ends?

Yes. You can sell your YES or NO shares at any time before the market closes. The price depends on market demand at that moment.

Who decides the outcome of a prediction?

We use UMA’s Optimistic Oracle (OO). It relies on verifiable sources (like major news outlets) and a decentralized dispute system to ensure fairness.

Are there fees?

Yes, a 1% fee is charged on each trade. This keeps the platform running and funds future improvements.

What happens if a market is unclear or disputed?

If the outcome isn’t clear (for example, conflicting reports), UMA’s decentralized community votes on the correct result. This ensures markets are always settled fairly.

Can I make my own prediction market?

At launch, only Nostradamus creates prediction markets. In the future, advanced users will be able to propose their own.
